ABOUT ASHLEY
HATFIELD, MISS ILLINOIS 2007
25-year-old Ashley Hatfield of Anna, Illinois recently concluded her service as Miss Illinois 2007.
She spent her year touring the state of Illinois making over 190 public appearances throughout the state, speaking to students about CHARACTER
COUNTS! and the importance of making good decisions, as well as promoting her personal platform, "Breast Cancer: Action, Awareness & Advocacy" at various civic and charitable functions.
To further her breast cancer awareness platform’s initiatives, Ashley established partnerships with American Cancer Society, to serve as youth delegate for the Southern Illinois branch and spokesperson for ACS’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
As Miss Illinois 2007, she also partnered with The Pampered Chef to help promote their Help Whip Cancer campaign as their Illinois Celebrity Spokesperson. Ashley also made appearances on behalf of other breast cancer charities including Y-ME Illinois of Chicago and The Wendy Larks Foundation.
In addition to breast cancer awareness, Ashley also made public appearances on behalf of Down Syndrome awareness, Red Ribbon Week, Easter Seals, Carcinoid Cancer research, The Abby Horan Foundation, U.S.O., Illinois Department of Transportation, and Children’s Miracle Network, the official platform of the Miss America Organization.
In January 2008, Ashley competed with 51 other titleholders from across the country for the title of Miss America at the 2008 Miss America Pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, and appeared on the TLC reality series, Miss America Reality Check.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Masters of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders, Ashley hopes to establish a career as a speech-language pathologist.
